Happy Easter

This Easter, Marty and I embarked on celebrating our first holiday without parents or our family.  We decided to invite some friends from Norfolk over for supper after church on Sunday which turned out to be a blast!  I have learned a couple things through this process, yet the most important thing is that my husband ceases to amaze me.  The man who cannot pay attention to anything besides sports for more than 10 minutes without getting bored, made a cake from scratch on Friday night in preparation for this supper on Sunday.  This cake took almost 5 hours to make!  It turned out to be a delicious raspberry lemon cake with raspberry filling and a butter-cream icing!  Yum, yum!  It was a crowd pleaser.  The other food turned out fine and we had a wonderful afternoon with friends.

Here are some pictures of the table for you mom :)  Thanks to all that added to our beautiful dishes for our wedding.  We love them and had a wonderful time entertaining with them.

This Easter I also learned that Marty did not grow up dying easter eggs, so we had to do that too!  We discovered that if you dye the egg a light color, then color with the magic crayon, and then dye the egg a darker color you can get a two toned egg.  We had a lot of fun experimenting with the eggs!!!

Happy Easter to all our family and friends! I will leave you with a conversation I overheard outside of my classroom door a couple of weeks ago....

I was on one of my few breaks during the day, and I was sitting in my room grading papers one afternoon when I heard a couple of children talking outside of my room. They were discussing the poster of Jessie Owens my class had made for Black History Month that was hung outside of my room. I heard one student say "hey, I think that is Jesus", and the other responded, "No, that can't be Jesus. Jesus is white, not black!"
