Y'all have to try this recipe. A parent at school gave it to me and it is the best variation on the normal rice crispy treat I have ever tasted. Yum!
Crispy Chocolate Cherry Treats
Makes 16 squares (I doubled for a 9x13)
3 tbs butter
1 10 oz. bag of mini marshmallows
1/2 cup white chocolate chips
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
5 cups of Rice Krispies Cereal
1 cup dried cherries, chopped
1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips, melted
1. Prepare pan- line 8'' square baking pan with foil, allowing excess foil to hang over pan edges. Grease foil.
2. Melt butter in large pot over low heat. Add marshmallows, white chocolate chips and some salt. Cook, stirring constantly, until melted and smooth ( 8 minutes or so). Stir in vanilla.
3. Assemble treats- Off heat, stir in Rice Krispies and cherries until incorporated. Scrape mixture into the prepared pan, and press into bottom and corners with a greased spatula. Let cool completely, about an hour.
4. Drizzle chocolate- Drizzle melted chocolate chips over cooled treats. Allow chocolate to cool. Using foil overhang, lift treats from pan. Cut into squares and serve.
