Hilton Head

Last week, we enjoyed time at Hilton Head beach with my family.  HG did a great job meeting new people and in new surroundings.  Going to the beach was definitely a different experience with a newborn, yet it was fun to get away as a family together.  Summertime for a youth pastor is a busy busy time, so it was such a blessing to see Marty every day and have him spend quality time with HG too.

Since HG is still so young, we worked the beach trips into her schedule.  She took one of her morning naps at the beach (8:30-10), and spent some awake time at the beach in the afternoon (4:15-6).  One day I tried a little longer time at the beach in the morning, and she got a little toasty and had rosy cheeks later that day...Mama fail :)

HG loved meeting new family on this trip.  She would just stare and listen to my family, and coo back, like she was talking to them and visiting like a sweet little girl.  We had a pool at our house, and she went swimming with her Mimi one time.  She didn't fuss, so I guess that means she likes the water, or is still undecided on the topic.

We stopped on the way home in Savannah to visit some friends from seminary.  This was a sweet blessing to our souls to be around good friends who have been transitioning into full-time ministry as well.  What a special group of people we know from Covenant Seminary, we have been so encouraged by their friendship.

What a fun trip! So glad you guys had such a great time! I remember taking Luke to a Tech tailgate and that night he had pink cheeks and a red nose. I felt TERRIBLE. But newborn skin is resilient and repairs so fast, Luke was fine in a day or two.
