41 weeks

On Wednesdays, Hattie-Grace has a "play-date" with a friend while her Mama's in a meeting.  The girls are a month apart, and they are just now being able to parallel play.  It is fun to see them interact together, and HG loves to squeal at Iva and grab her face.

Thursday was the first day of Spring.  To me that Rita's!  We have a Rita's in the county south of us, about 45 min. away.  I just started working for the student ministry at church, and we were running low on snacks and drinks.  This was the perfect opportunity to score my free Rita's and do a big Sams Club run in the same trip.  HG was a sport helping me shop and watching me enjoy my free chocolaty treat.  I had in mind to get her a free cup to enjoy myself as well, but chickened out at the last minute.  I didn't want to look like the Mom that fed her child sugar at 9 months/ or that wanted to free cups :)

HG experienced her first girls softball game this week!  A few of my small group girls are on the team, and we enjoyed cheering them on.  HG wasn't sure about all the cheering in the crowd at first, but warmed up to it pretty quickly.

I feel like HG is doing new things everyday right now.  This week she fed herself some chicken, cheese and beans off her tray.  Most fell on the floor, but it is fun to see her involved in eating as well.  She even had some cheerios in a hopeful attempt to keep her silent during a worked marvelously.  We are still feeding her mostly purees, but she likes whole foods as well.  She also had some kale this week.  Plain whole milk yogurt, and oatmeal have become new favorite foods.
She now has 4 teeth, two bottom and two top.  Says Mama from her crib and when she is hungry and says DDD more intentionally for Dada.  She has started to sign "all done", so at least understand what it means.
HG has some new faces she likes to make.  She sniffs and smirks at the same time, and likes to mimic us smacking our lips.  When the camera is out, she is a ham and gives us lots of big smiles.

40 weeks (isn) and family visiting!

This was a busy busy two weeks for us!  We had a set of Grandparents, Mom, Aunt, Uncle, cousins, and a sister visiting with us.

My sister, Hattie-Grace's favorite Auntie, was here for a few days before the rest of the family came to town.
Bethany lives in NYC, so naturally she teaches us all about the upcoming fashions and how the best sunglasses for our face structure.
 Twinsies at church
 We hit the pool.
 Hattie-Grace loves her Auntie B.

Next, we had my Grandparents, Aunt and Uncle and their two children, and my Mom here with us.  We enjoyed many sunny days by the water.  This is Kings Bay, at one of our favorite local seafood restaurants.

The kids helped me make a Pinterest inspired sensory toy for HG.  Just hair gel, sparkles and links in a ziplock bag sealed with duct tape.  She has enjoyed squeezing it lots, yet we have to keep a close eye on her so she doesn't eat it :)
 Fun times with Mimi.
Hanging out at Hunter Springs.  They canoed with the manatees and we met them for a picnic lunch and swimming!

We had a few nice pool days, but this was the first time HG has really spent time in the pool.  At first she was a little hesitant, yet once she warmed up to the idea of it she was splashing and kicking.  I think she is going to really love the pool soon.

Hattie-Grace loved all our family visitors.  She especially took to my Grandfather, always smiling from ear to ear when he would talk to her.  She loved playing peek a boo with him and enjoyed his soothing voice.
We were so blessed to have family with us, and loved having the extra hands around the house.  What a fun visit!

9 months (a week late)

Hatley-Grace is 9 months :)

Length: 26 inches
Weight: 16 lbs. 12 oz.
Head Circumference: 17.50
Hair/Eyes: Light brown/ blue, sometimes hazel
Clothing: mostly 9 months, some 6-12 months
Diapers:  Flips on medium length, 4 snaps in

This month we have experienced lots of teething, so it is hard to say what is "normal" for this time with HG.  Also, with the recent time change and having visitors in our home for 2 weeks, our routine is not very clear anymore.  Pre-time change, HG was sleeping from 7pm-6/6:30am.  She consistently takes two daytime naps ranging from 1-2 hours in length.  She very rarely takes a third cat nap.  She will not sleep when we are out and about.  Not even in the nursery at church with sweet ladies cuddling her.

HG nurses every 3-4 hours, which is about 5 times a day.  This month we transitioned into offering HG solids three times a day.  She isn't a picky eater, yet does not eat much of anything.  She eats mostly vegetables and fruits right now, and prefers vegetables.  Avocados are still a favorite, along with carrots and bananas.  Whole milk plain yogurt has been a great addition to meals as well.

Motor Skills:
HG is not traditionally crawling, yet can move herself across the room to get into anything and everything.  She will inchworm, roll and scoot on her back to get places.  She likes to push her body around on the wood floors.  She has discovered her feet and uses them as tools to grab toys or soothe herself by sucking on her toes.

Hatley-Grace loves to turn the pages in a book, and flip the book around to find the best corner to gnaw on.  This girl has the strongest grip and especially enjoys grabbing hold of skin, eyes and hair.  She has drawn my blood on multiple occasions.  She can grab peas and other small pieces of food, yet refuses to put them in her mouth.

-  Hattie-Grace has started babbling Mama, Dada and bye bye.  She loves waving hello and bye bye on command now.
-  She is ticklish on her thighs, and underarms and laughs out loud when tickled.
-  Peek-a-boo is still a favorite game.
-  She loves other kids and babies.  She gets loud and squealy around other children.  Even pictures of babies make her squeal.
-  HG loves taking baths and splash and kick in the water.
-  Changing HG's diaper has become more difficult as she squirms around more these days.  Whenever she hears a noise or someone else in the house, she wants to flip around off the changing table to see who it is.
-  Hatley-Grace loves when I sing songs and tries to join in.

Dear sweet Hattie-Grace,

Another month has flown by in your little life.  This month was a strange one, trying to figure out eating and schedules while you were lots of pain cutting some teeth.  You didn't sleep fully at night some weeks this month, waking around 4/5am hungry.  We are both learning as you are transitioning from a baby into this next stage.  I am quickly realizing that you will soon be walking and talking and having your own opinions and a distinct personality.  Every new stage is so very exciting to me, I love that I get to watch you grow and develop into the woman that God designed you to be.

This week, when you are technically 9 months and 1 week old, you started calling Mama from your crib.  I am claiming Mama as your first word because it is the mostly intentionally used word in your vocabulary.  It is the most dear thing to my ears!  You usually say Mama when you are hungry and waking in the morning, or from a nap.  You have also called my name when you are in pain from your teeth and can't sleep.  I love that you know me.  I love that you call for me in hunger and in pain and rely on my to satisfy those needs.  I won't always be able to meet those needs, and I am thankful that I can now.  I love that you smile when I pick you up from nursery, before I even say a word, you can spot me from across the room and smile.  I love that you are totally fine when we are apart, yet you recognize me as your Mama and your safe place.  I love that you are also a true Daddy's girl, and your face lights up when he enters the room.

Sweet Hattie-Grace, you are so very loved!

38 weeks

We are in the midst of lots of family visitors the next few weeks.  HG has been loving all the attention and does not want to miss out on any fun!
Two bottom teeth have broken through the surface and a top tooth is working it's way out now too.  Teething tablets have worked to ease her pain when we can't use Tylenol all the time.

Happy March!
